Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in individual-based Arabic language learning
(Personalized learning), in islamic boarding schools. Technological developments have opened up new opportunities to
provide adaptive and personalized learning systems. Pesantren students have unique characteristics that require a flexible
learning approach tailored to each individual’s needs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection
techniques in the form of direct observation, in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, and documentation of the
learning process. This study analyzes, application, and challenges in using AI for Arabic language learning in pesantren. The
results show that AI can significantly improve learning effectiveness by providing materials that match students’ ability levels,
giving instant feedback, and increasing learning motivation. The findings also show an increase in students’ vocabulary and
sentence-building skills. However, infrastructure limitations and technological literacy are major challenges in its
implementation. This study recommends the gradual integration of AI technology into the Islamic boarding school curriculum
to create more adaptive and efficient Arabic language learning.
