Abstract

In the modern era, the pursuit of education and scientific innovation often becomes detached from moral and spiritual values, leading to ethical crises and unsustainable practices. Islam, through the Prophetic traditions (hadith), offers an integrative framework that harmonizes knowledge ('ilm), ethics (akhlaq), and sustainability (istidamah) within a faith-based worldview. This study aims to explore the Prophetic teachings related to knowledge, ethical responsibility, and environmental balance as foundational principles for empowering education and science in the contemporary context. Using a qualitative thematic hadith analysis method, this research identifies and interprets relevant hadiths found in major collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and Sunan Abu Dawud. The analysis applies Fazlur Rahman's double-movement approach to derive normative values and contextual meanings that align with current educational and scientific challenges. The findings reveal that the Prophet Muhammad's teachings emphasize the inseparable relationship between the acquisition of knowledge, moral integrity, and stewardship of creation. These elements form a holistic ethical framework that guides education and innovation toward justice, sustainability, and human well-being. The study concludes that integrating hadith-based values into modern educational and scientific paradigms can serve as a transformative model for developing faith-driven, ethical, and sustainable progress in the 21st century.
